Expanding Our Expertise to Serve Industry Needs: A powerful new tool for material identification and defect analysis.

We are excited to introduce our latest addition: a next-generation scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an EDX analyzer for precise chemical element detection.

With this cutting-edge technology, we are enhancing our capabilities in material analysis and defect investigation across multiple applications, based on the needs of our industrial partners. Here are some key areas of expertise:

Material Analysis and Identification
Confirming the presence of specific fibers or the chemical composition of fillers in polymers is now possible with high precision. Cross-sectional and longitudinal imaging enables visual and chemical identification of materials, facilitating the evaluation of fiber dispersion in blended yarns, for example.

Surface Treatment and Finishing Analysis
From coated textiles to polymer and geosynthetic surface treatments, this tool allows us to examine material layers and verify the presence of treatments such as flame retardants, antibacterial coatings, and more.

Defect Analysis and Contamination Identification
Whether it’s a stain on technical textiles, a defect line, an unexpected inclusion in a polymer, a foreign particle in a composite material, or contaminants in geosynthetics, our SEM-EDX technology provides high-resolution imaging and precise chemical analysis to determine the root cause of material defects.

Failure Mechanism Investigation
Our advanced capabilities now include the analysis of plasticizer migration and microcracks in geosynthetics, as well as failure mechanisms in composite materials—such as detecting adhesive or cohesive failures at fiber/resin interfaces.

Nanomaterial Distribution in Textiles and Polymers
Advanced materials incorporate sophisticated engineering. To ensure their performance and integrity, our researchers use this tool to assess particle dispersion, polymer adhesion, and contamination-free composition.

For non-conductive materials, we also have a metallizer that enhances imaging and analysis quality.

With this latest acquisition, Groupe CTT strengthens its position as a leading expert in innovation for the textile, geosynthetic, and advanced textile-based materials industries.
