 Brian Young, Président de 3M Canada Brian Young received his education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, earning a degree in business and finance.  Mr. Young started working for 3M right after graduation. He got on the fast track in 1997 when he was called to 3M headquarters in St. Paul, Minn., to work as a marketing supervisor. Subsequently, Mr Young was called to Holland to take the position of Managing Director of 3M Netherlands.  He now makes his home in London, ON in the role of President and General Manager of 3M Canada.

Mr. Alain Bujold est un spécialiste en ergonomie et facteurs humains avec dix-sept années d'expérience dans le développement de nouveaux produits (DNP) au sein de l'industrie de la sécurité. Par l'observation, l'imagination et l'intuition, il a acquis les aptitudes nécessaires pour inventer de nouvelles et meilleures technologies avec l'aide du biomimétisme.

Alain est un penseur curieux qui aime utiliser la logique pragmatique pour créer des solutions innovatrices. Il a développé plus de 90 projets en recherche scientifique et développement expérimental (RS-DE) dans les domaines des forces de l'ordre et de la défense. Son expérience particulière comprend la physiologie et la vulnérabilité humaines, les facteurs humains et l'ergonomie, les matériaux et technologies de pointe, ainsi que la gestion de l'impact (traumatismes contondants, armes blanches, fragmentation, balistique).

Valério Izquierdo fait partie de l’équipe du Groupe CTT, depuis mars 2001.  Il a œuvré tout d’abord comme chargé de projets dans la réalisation de projets de recherche et développement pour l’industrie textile.  Depuis mars 2006, il agit à titre de directeur du laboratoire de la division Textiles tout en restant impliqué dans les projets de Recherche et Développement; il participe également à des comités de normalisation, notamment l’ONGC pour l’inflammabilité. 

Détenteur d’un baccalauréat en ingénierie textile de l’Institut Textile et Chimique (ITECH) à Lyon, il a également étudié à l’Université de Bordeaux où il a obtenu un diplôme d’Études Universitaires en Sciences et Technologies.

Lelia has an MSc in Textiles and Clothing (moisture effects on heat transfer through clothing systems for FR end use) and a BSc in Human Ecology, along with over 10 years experience in the textile industry.

Her primary focus has been in flame resistant textiles and PPE worn in the petroleum and electrical industries. She is also a contributing member to CGSB standards and test methods.  Lelia is currently the Research and Development Supervisor at Davey Textile Solutions.  In the fall, she will be starting her PhD at the University of Alberta, focusing on developing garment and fabric systems worn for flame, hot liquid, and steam protection.

Ellen d'Entremont is a experienced Clothing Designer & Technical Writer who has been employed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) since January 2000. The uniform needs of the RCMP does range from front line police officer in their day to day operations, to the large number and variety of specialized groups as well as the well-known ceremonial uniform. 
 
The scope of the work encompasses research, development, design and pattern making of the always evolving needs of the RCMP police officers and the detailed technical specification & documents to support all stages of progressions from conception to the acquisition of the clothing items.  The RCMP Uniform and Equipment Program supply uniform and equipment to all of their 19 000 plus police officers across Canada
 

Bob Ross, Enform, bob.ross@enform.ca

Bob is the Manager of Enform Saskatchewan, part of Enform Canada, the National Safety Association for Canada's Upstream Oil and Gas Industry, whose primary vision and mandate is that there are "No work-related incidents or injuries in the upstream oil and gas industry". 

Bob's education and background includes the field of Engineering, Construction, Mining, the Power line industry, Petroleum sector and Occupational Health and Safety. Bob has seen the progress the petroleum sector has made in enchancing the health and safety of its workers and is proud to be part of the Enform team that represents this sector throughout Canada and internationally.

 

Monica Neaves, Helly Hansen Canada, monica@helly.ca

Monica Neaves is a Materials Sourcing Manager and has been a part of Helly Hansen Canada Ltd since 2000 after completing her Business Administration degree from the University of New Brunswick. Helly Hansen Canada manufactures and supplies high quality, protective, technical clothing, flotation products and survival suits.  With 10 years of professional buying experience, involvement in the Purchasing Management Association of Canada Monica has been involved in all areas of sourcing from the innovation of research and development to the finished products of protective and survival clothing systems.

 Martin Filteau s’est joint à l’équipe du Centre de Technologies Textiles, rebaptisé depuis Groupe CTT, en 1995, à titre de Directeur R&D Fabrication.  En 2001, il a été nommé vice-président et, depuis 2008, il agit en tant que premier vice-président.  Il est responsable des projets de recherche, des expertises, de la formation et des tests de laboratoire de la division Textiles.  Il est également responsable de la gestion du budget, de la gestion des ressources humaines et des ventes de cette division.  Il est membre du comité de gestion du Groupe CTT.

Détenteur d’un baccalauréat en ingénierie, il a œuvré auparavant chez Nalpac, à Montréal, de 1991 à 1995, à titre d’ingénieur de développement en assistant le vice-président dans les nouveaux développements de produits; il était également responsable de l’analyse des nouvelles machineries et de la formation des opérateurs et apprentis-mécaniciens.

Crystal Tait has been working with the Director of Soldier Systems Program Management (DSSPM) Operational and Protective Clothing Group, Department of National Defence since 1998.  She is currently the National Defence Technical Authority for Technical and Applied Textiles.  Crystal is responsible for the development, engineering, procurement and management of textile products used throughout a wide range of military and civilian clothing and equipment in DND.  Textile product end uses include operational, protective, environmental, dress, cadet, and ceremonial clothing; field and fleet equipment; threads and narrow wovens; flags and pennants. 

Prior to joining National Defence, Crystal was the Laboratory Manager and Textile Technologist at the University of Alberta's Textile Analysis Service for 4 years.  While there, she was involved in the testing of flame resistant and protective fabrics and garments.  Crystal has an MSc in Clothing and Textiles from the University of Alberta.

Annette L. Vidito Helly Hansen Canada annette@helly.ca Annette began working at Helly Hansen Canada Ltd. in the Design Department in 2000. With her vast knowledge of garment construction and design experience she has lead the Design and Development Department in creating Industrial Workwear Clothing Systems  , Marine Safety Products, including a Helicopter Survival Suits.   In addition to her role, she now works as the Quality Manager and Manufacturing Manager of their Canadian Manufacturing Factory in Dartmouth , Nova Scotia. She has  Bachelor of Human Ecology from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, NS.

My passion for Fabric and Textiles stems from the 9 years’ experience in commercial laundry and retail dry cleaning. I successfully managed a commercial laundry which included uniform rental and restaurant table linen programs.

My roles and responsibilities with Milliken & Company include, but not limited to, providing technical support to both garment manufactures and end users.  I am here to educate the industry on the benefits of Milliken FR Fabrics and provide a unique insight into the innovative spirit of Milliken & Company.

Dr. Betty Crown is a Professor Emeritus with the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Alberta. She has actively conducted research in the area of protective clothing since the 19890’s and was instrumental in establishing the U of A’s Protective Clothing and Equipment Research Facility.

She has authored many research papers in the areas of textile science, textile safety and protective clothing. Although officially retired she continues to conduct research, most recently on clothing for steam and hot water protection.  She has served on many Canadian standards-writing committees in the area of protective clothing, and also represents Canada on ISO committees on protective clothing and firefighter clothing.

Brian is the Acting Hazardous Materials Coordinator and is enjoying his 14th year with the Calgary Fire Department, over 11 years have been with the Hazardous Materials Section. Brian has been directly involved with the evaluation and selection of protective garments and apparel used by the Hazmat team.
